Preschool

Tiny Giants Preschool services children ages two years old to five years old in a fun and inviting learning environment that focuses on developmentally appropriate tasks in a group of same-aged peers. Our preschool classes are part-time programs set up to introduce children to school, aide in acclimating them socially to their peers, and prepare them over the course of three years for Kindergarten and beyond. The entire preschool staff is comprised of certified teachers who work tirelessly to provide the students with exciting activities in the various areas of development each and every day. The program is a good balance of both teacher directed learning tasks and self-engaging choice times, incorporating play in both the indoors and outdoors spaces.  The child’s love for school is of primary importance and we hope to instill in our children an excitement about learning that will stay with them for years to come.

Tiny Giants currently offers extended care for a limited number of children in an additional program housed next door to the preschool classroom. This program operates full-time, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  The group is comprised of approximately 18 children ranging in ages from two to five years old.  Families requiring time in addition to the regularly scheduled preschool hours must be admitted to the full-time program in order to guarantee the full days of care.

For more information about any of our preschool classes or the option of full-time care, please contact us directly at info@tinygiantssf.com.

Programs

2-Year Old Preschool Class

The 2 year old program is a fun, supportive introduction to school. Learning is drawn from various art experiences, cooking, music, dramatic play and games. Language development and socialization are the primary focus during this first formal year of schooling. All of this takes place in an environment where children feel safe and secure. The 2 year old class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Children must be 2 years of age no later than August 31st to enter the program. Children need not be potty trained to be accepted into the program. This class is limited to 25 students and is staffed with 5 teachers.

3-Year Old Preschool Class

The 3 year old program encourages further development of social relationships and intellectual growth within the same well-balanced structure of play and directed activities that was introduced the previous year. Learning become more focused and intentional. This is accomplished through both fine and gross motor skills’ activities in both large and small group settings. The 3-year-old class meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Children must be 3 years of age no later than August 31st to enter the class. This class is limited to 24 students and is staffed with 4 teachers.

Pre-Kindergarten Preschool Class

The Pre-K program is for 4-and-5-year-old children. It is the culmination of a child’s preschool experience and will successfully prepare students for Kindergarten. Concepts introduced in the 3-year old program are further developed. There is the formal introduction of letters and numbers, purposeful practice and attention given to writing and refining fine motor skills, as well as many opportunities for speaking in front of the group and participating in classroom initiatives, themed dress up days, science experiments, and so much more. The Pre-K class meets Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Children must be 4 years of age by August 31st to enter the class. This class is limited to 24 students and is staffed with 4 teachers.

Transitional Kindergarten Class

The T-K Class is for 4-and-5-year-old children who need to complete a second year of Pre-K before entering kindergarten. The T-K curriculum is independent of that done by the Pre-K students and is an extension of what was learned the year before in our pre-K class. The T-K students spend a majority of their day interacting with the entire group and reap the benefits of the social experience as being an older student in their new peer group. They do have separate learning/activity times with second year students only. Concepts formally worked on during the T-K year include further fine motor development, emergent reading and writing skills, and early math concepts. The T-K class meets as a part of the Pre-K class, Monday through Friday, from1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and is offered to both continuing Tiny Giants Pre-K students and students from outside programs.

Services are available on either a part-time or full-time basis and are offered in conjunction with age-related pre-school classes. The daycare is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program accepts up to 18 children ages two to five years old and has 3 full-time caregivers.
